Last Time Out: The Yellow Jackets opened their season up playing two games over the weekend in Philadelphia. They played University of the Sciences, a game which they lost in a heartbreaker, 65-63, and Goldey Beacom, which they won 68-52.
Just 23 ticks were left on the clock when Gilmore headed to the line to shoot two, and she hit both chances to tie the game up at 63. With the shot clock off, the Devils held the ball for one shot on their home court. They trusted Laura Trisch to take the shot, and she nailed it at the buzzer to give the Devils the 65-63 win.
Gilmore put up 18 points on 11 shots and had three assists as she led the team in scoring. Stepney tossed in 14 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore standout
Dana Wattspulled down a career high 15 rebounds and scored 13.
The Yellow Jackets end the weekend at 1-1, with a 68-52 win over Goldey-Beacom.
Watts had her second double-double in as many games with 20 points and 12 rebounds, including going 12-for-13 from the line.
Alyssa Guyonwent 3-for-6 from the arc and had six offensive rebounds as she ended with 20 points and seven rebounds.
Jayda Gilmoreand Stepney respectively chipped in 13 and 12.
Double-Double: Dana Watts had a double-double in back-to-back games to start off the season going for 13 points and 15 rebounds in the first game and and 20 points and 12 rebounds in the second. Last season she recorded five double-doubles.
5-2: In their last seven meetings the Yellow Jackets hold a 5-2 record against Saint Rose. Last season the Yellow Jackets dropped the meeting on the road in a 66-58 game.
