COLCHESTER, Vt. American International College senior Ana Paula Simoes (Brasilia, Brazil) ended her career on a high note at Saint Michael's Saturday, earning No. 1 singles and doubles victories in a women's tennis loss, 7-2.
With the loss AIC finishes 1-11 overall, while with the win St. Mike's improves to 4-8 on the season.
Simoes finished her second full season at first singles with a record of 7-4. Saturday she ended her collegiate career with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Erica Bundrick. Simoes and Eleanna Fulop (Anixi-Attiki, Greece) opened the day with a hard-fought win over Bundrick and Alexandra Sulkin at No. 1 doubles, 8-6.
Fulop and Simoes finished 2-6 at first doubles for the season. Simoes and junior Isabela Daudt (Nova Hamburgo, Brazil) were 3-1 as partners prior to Daudt's season-ending injury.
AIC seniors Whitney McKay (Painted Post, N.Y.) and Callie Porcher (Chuluota, Fla.) both won games in single match losses.
