WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American International College men's ice hockey squad dropped a 4-0 decision against the College of Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon at the Olympia Ice Center. The Crusaders are now 12-13-3 overall and 10-8-3 in conference play, while the Yellow Jackets move to 5-21-2 overall and 4-15-22 in Atlantic Hockey
Holy Cross senior forward Andrew Cox (Lombardy, Ont.) scored at 14:12 in the first period off a pass from sophomore forward Adam Schmidt (Warrington, Pa.) and junior forward Kyle Fletcher (Kanata, Ont.).
The Crusaders earned a 2-0 lead at 12:14 in the second period when senior defenseman Kyle Atkins (Brockville, Ont) scored a powerplay goal off a dish from sophomore forward Shayne Stockton (Rochester, N.Y.) and junior forward Erik Vos (Carlisle, Ont.).
Schmidt and senior forward Luke Miller (Andover, Mass.) scored the last two Holy Cross goals to make it a 4-0 contest.
Freshman goaltender Matt Ginn (Lindsay, Ont.) made 25 saves in net for the victory, while junior goalie
Ben Meisner (Halifax, N.S.) stopped 33 in the loss.
The Crusaders outshot AIC 37-25.
AIC will have a home-and-home series with Bentley University, first traveling to Watertown, Mass. on Friday February 10th before hosting the Falcons at the Olympia Ice Center Saturday night for a 7:05 p.m. contest.
