TROY, N.Y. - The American International College men's ice hockey team dropped a 3-1 decision to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Tuesday night in a non conference contest. The Yellow Jackets slide to 3-15-2 overall, while the Engineers improve to 4-16-1 overall.
The contest remained scoreless through the first period and most of the second. Freshman defenseman Curtis Leonard (Napanee, ON) put Rensselaer on the board at 13:19 in the second period off a pass from junior forward Marty O'Grady (London, ON).
The Engineers took a 2-0 lead at 18:23 when junior forward C.J. Lee (Staten Island, NY) found the back of the net off a dish from junior defenseman Nick Bailen (Fredonia, NY) and junior forward Greg Burgdoerfer (East Setauket, NY).

Adam Pleskach (Beausejour, Man.) put AIC within one when he buried a shot past junior goaltender Bryce Merriam (Bethel Park, PA.) at 17:03 in the third period. Sophomore forward

Rensselaer scored with just 28 seconds left in the contest to make it a 3-1 victory over the Yellow Jackets.
Merriam made 15 saves in net for the Engineers to earn the win, while junior goalie
Ben Meisner (Halifax, N.S.) stopped 34 in the loss.

The Yellow Jackets will host Mercyhurst for a weekend series on January 13th & 14th at the Olympia Ice Center for 7:05 p.m. Atlantic Hockey contests.
