ROCHESTER, N.Y.– The American International College men's ice hockey team dropped a 5-1 decision at Rochester Institute of Technology on Saturday night in the first game of the Quarterfinal round. The Yellow Jackets drop to 8-24-1 overall this season, while the win improves the Tigers record to 17-10-8 overall.
Despite AIC controlling the first period when junior forward
Nielsson Arcibal (Vista, Cali) found the back of the net at 14:56 for the 1-0 lead going into the second period.
Four members for RIT scored in the second period for a 4-1 lead heading into the third period. Freshman forward Adam Mitchell (Crofton, MD), sophomore forward Sean Murphy (Owatonna, MN), sophomore forward Andrew Favot (King City, Ont) and junior forward Tyler Brenner (Linwood, Ont.) each tallied a goal for the Tigers in the second period.
RIT junior forward Scott Knowles (Riverside, Ontario ) closed the scoring in the third periodat 19:19 for a 5-1 second game victory over the Yellow Jackets.
Sophomore goaltender
Ben Meisner (Halifax, N.S.) made 46 saves in the loss for the Yellow Jacket, while sophomore goalie Shane Madolora (Salinas, CA) stopped 33 in earning the victory for the Tigers.
