Moon Township, Pa. – The American International College men's ice hockey team dropped a 2-0 decision at Robert Morris University on Friday night in the first game of the series. The Colonials improved to 3-5-0 overall and 1-1-0 in Atlantic Hockey, while the Yellow Jackets dropped to 1-7-0 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
The contest remained scoreless through the first period. Senior forward Trevor Lewis (Lititz, Pa.) scored 5:08 into the second period with assists from junior forward Zach Hervato (Stittsville, Ont.) and senior forward Ron Cramer (New Wilmington, Pa.) and it proved to be the only goal Robert Morris would need to earn the victory.
Senior defenseman Jeff Jones (Revelstoke, B.C.) scored the Colonials second goal of the night at 15:58 in the third period.
Junior netminder Eric Levine (Wheeling, Ill.) recorded 27 saves in the win, while junior goaltender
Ben Meisner (Halifax, N.S.) recorded 42 saves in taking the loss for AIC.
Robert Morris outshot the Yellow Jackets 44-27.
AIC will take on Robert Morris will finish the weekend series on Saturday night for a 7:05 p.m. Atlantic Hockey contest.
