WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American International College men's ice hockey team dropped a 2-1 decision against Canisius College in an afternoon contest to close out the weekend series at the Olympia Ice Center. The Yellow Jackets 3-10-2 overall and 2-5-2 in conference play, while the Golden Griffins move to 4-6-3 overall and 4-1-2 in AHA play.
The Yellow Jackets started the contest with a 1-0 lead in the first period at 5:06 when senior forward
Nielsson Arcibal (Vista, Calif.) scored a power play goal. Junior forward
Adam Pleskach (Beausejour, MB) and freshman forward
Nathan Sliwinski (Castle Rock, Co.) earned the assists on Arcibal's goal.
Canisius tied the contest 1-1 at 16:44 in the first when freshman forward Tyler Wiseman (Burlington, Ont.) buried a shot.
The contest remained tied until the third period when the Griffins scored with 2:04 left on the clock to earned a 2-1 victory. Sophomore forward Patrick Sullivan (Derby, N.Y.) scored an unassisted goal for the Griffins.
Senior goaltender Dan Morrison (London, Ont.) made38 saves to earn the victory, while junior goalie
Ben Meisner (Halifax, N.S.) stopped 27 in the loss.
AIC outshot Canisius 39-29.
The Yellow Jackets will host Air Force for an Atlantic Hockey weekend series on December 2-3, 2011 for a 7:05 p.m. contest at the Olympia Ice Center
