BUFFALO, N.Y. – The American International College men's ice hockey team dropped a 8-3 decision with Canisius College on Monday night in an Atlantic Hockey contest. The Yellow Jackets drop to 4-15-1 overall and 4-12-1 in Atlantic Hockey, while the win improves the Griffins record to 8-11-5 overall and 7-6-4 in conference play.
Canisius had a 2-0 lead going into the second period. Senior forward
Tom Mele (Bronx, N.Y.) put AIC within one at 2:50 in the second on a shorthanded goal. The Griffins pulled away with scoring five goals to make the score 7-1.
Junior forward
Nielsson Arcibal (Vista, Calif.) scored 7:00 minutes into the third period on a powerplay, while 50 seconds later sophomore forward
Steve Mele (Bronx. N.Y) gave AIC their third goal of the night on another powerplay. Earning assists on the Arcibal goal were sophomore forward
Richard Leitner (Los Alamistos, Calif.), sophomore defenseman
Chris Markiewicz (Calgary, Alb.). Sophmore forward

Canisius scored one more time in the third to make the final 8-3 in favor of the Griffins. AIC scored two powerplay goals and one shorthanded, while Canisius scored three powerplay goals and one shorthanded.
Sophomore goaltender
Ben Meisner (Halifax, N.S.) made 11 saves in 40 minutes in the loss for the Yellow Jackets, before being replaced by senior
Jake Anderson (Colorado Springs, Colo.) who made six saves in 20 minutes. Junior goalie Dan Morrison (London, Ontario) stopped 36 in the victory for the Griffins.
AIC outshot Canisius 39-25.
AIC will travel to Sacred Heart University on Friday January 28th for a 7:05 p.m. contest, while finishing the weekend series at home on Saturday night January 29th for a 7:05 p.m. Atlantic Hockey Contest.
