Canisius jumped out to an early two goal lead, as sophomore forward Scott Moser (Tonawanda, N.Y.) and senior defenseman Carl Hudson (Smooth Rock Falls, Ont.) each buried a goal in the games first eight-minutes. The Yellow Jackets tied the score at 2-2 midway through the second period when McLeod netted his seventh goal of the season with assists from Arcibal and freshman forward #
Adam Pleskach# (Beausejour, Man.). The tie was short lived as the Golden Griffins regained the lead at the 16-minute mark when sophomore forward Dave Kostuch (Richmond Hill, Ont.) socred.

Chris Markiewicz# (Calgary, Alb.) dished out the assists on the goal. But Canisius again would break the tie as junior forward Vincent Scarsella (Lackawanna, N.Y.) buried, what would prove to be, the game winning goal at 12:06 on the power-play. The Golden Griffins would add an empty netter with one-second remaining in regulation for a 5-3 victory.

Ben Meisner# (Halifax, N.S.) turned aside 30 shots in the loss, while senior Andrew Loewen (Winnipeg, Man.) claimed the win with 20 saves.
The Yellow Jackets were outshot 35-23 on the evening, but held a 10-9 advantage in the second.
