Box Score

Erie, Pa. – The American International College men's ice hockey team lost 6-2 to Mercyhurst in the back end of their weekend series. With the loss the Yellow Jackets fall to 4-22-1 this season and are 4-17-1 in Atlantic Hockey play, while the win improves the Lakers to 14-13-3 on the season and to 12-7-3 in the conference. Junior #Chris Campanale# (Chester Springs, Pa.) tallied a goal and an assist for AIC in the loss.

Mercyhurst took an early 2-0 lead as senior Matt Pierce (Pakenham, Ont.) and junior Neil Graham (Calgary, Alb.) recorded goals just over a minute a part in the first period. Sophomore #Greg Vatrano# (East Longmeadow, Mass.) cut the Lakers lead in half when he found the back of the net just after the midway point of the opening period. Campanale and freshman #Luciano Primiani# (Montreal, Que.) dished out the assists on the goal.

Peirce and sophomore Brandon Coccimiglio (Burlington, Ont.) each tallied goals in the second period to push the Mercyhurst lead to 4-1.

The Yellow Jackets attempted to make it a game when Campanale lit the lamp half way through the third period with an assist from freshman #Michael Penny# (Calgary, Alb.), but the Lakers proved to be too much as Peirce netted two more goals, for four on the night, to propel Mercyhurst to a 6-2 victory.

Senior #Tom Fenton# (Sarnia, Ont.) stopped 26 shots for AIC, while senior Matt Lundin (Apple Valley, Minn.) made 25 saves for the Lakers.
