Yellow Jackets Tie Holy Cross in Home-and-Home Finale

WORCESTER, Mass. – The American International College men's ice hockey team tied Holy Cross 4-4 Saturday night in their home-and-home series finale. With the tie the Yellow Jackets move to 1-3-1 overall this season and to 1-1-1 in Athlantic Hockey play, while the Crusaders record becomes 2-3-1 for the year and 2-1-1 in the conference. Junior #Dan Ramirez# (Rochester, N.Y.) played well in net for AIC make 42 saves on the night.

Holy Cross struck first when freshman Erik Vos (Carisle, Ont.) found the back of the net on the power-play at 9:44 of the first period. Junior Jordan Cyr (Winnipeg, Man.) put the Crusaders up 2-0 when he scored just under three-minutes later. With less than three-minutes remaining in the period freshman #Charles LaChance# (Quebec City, Que.) buried the first goal of his collegiate career with assists from classmate #Steve Mele# (Bronx, N.Y.) and junior #Greg Vatrano# (East Longmeadow, Mass.). The goal cut the Holy Cross lead to 2-1 at the end of the opening period.

Freshman #Adam Pleskach# (Beausejour, Man.) tied the score at 2-2 when he tallied his team leading fifth goal of the season, six-minutes into the second period. Classmate #Richard Leitner# (Los Alamitos, Calif) dished out the assist on the goal. With just over four-minutes remaining in the period, LaChance tallied his second goal of the night with assists from junior #Mike Little# (Enfield, Conn.) and Mele, putting the Yellow Jackets on top 3-2 heading into the third period.

Junior Everett Sheen (Lethbridge, Alb.) tied the score for the Crusaders at 3-3 when he found the back of the net five-minutes into the third period. Just two-minutes later, senior Brodie Sheahan (Lethbridge, Alb.) broke the tie for Holy Cross, when he scored on the power play, for a 4-3 lead. The lead did not last long, just 43-seconds later junior #Tom Mele# (Bronx, N.Y.) netted a goal on the power-play for AIC with assists from Leitner and freshman #Jeff Ceccacci# (Placentia, Calif), tying the score at 4-4.

Freshman Thomas Tysowsky (Amherst, N.Y.) stopped 25 shots in the tie for the Crusaders.

Next up, the Yellow Jackets head to Storrs, Connecticut for two games with UConn beginning on Friday at 7:05 p.m.
