AIC Downed By Robert Morris in First Game of the New Year

Moontownship, Pa. – The American International College men's ice hockey team lost 5-2 Saturday night to Robert Morris. With the loss the Yellow Jackets record falls to 4-14-0 for the season, while the win improves the Colonials record to 4-10-2 this year. Sophomore #Tom Mele# (Bronx, N.Y.) tallied a goal and an assist in the loss for AIC.

The Yellow Jackets struck first when Mele found the back of the net with just 59-seconds left in the first period. Senior #Matt Woodard# (St. Louis Park, Minn.) and junior #Mike McMillan# (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) dished out the assists on Mele's goal.

Robert Morris came out in the second period to score two goals and take a 2-1 lead. Freshman Cody Critchton (Palgrave, Ont.) and sophomore Denny Urban (Pittsburg, Pa.) recorded the goals for the Colonials.

Junior #Chris Campanale# (Chester Springs, Pa.) tied the game at 2-2 when he netted a goal 1:28 into the game's final period with an assist from Mele. But the tie did not last long as Robert Morris scored three unanswered goals to finish the game with a 5-2 victory.

Senior #Tom Fenton# (Sarnia, Ont.) made 29 stops for AIC including 10 in the first and second periods, while junior Wes Russell (Springfield, Ill.) stopped 30 shots in the victory for the Colonials.

The Yellow Jackets were outshot 34-32 on the evening.
