SETTING THE SCENE: Tonight's Atlantic Hockey contest is between the visiting University of Connecticut Huskies and the host Yellow Jackets of American International College.
ABOUT AIC: The Yellow Jackets enter tonight's contest with a record of 4-19-1 on the season and are 4-14-0 in Atlantic Hockey play after losing 6-4 to Bentley last Tuesday. The Falcons jumped out to an early 2-0 lead as junior Marc Menzione and sophomore Dustin Cloutier both scored a goal on the power-play. AIC was not down for long though, as sophomore

Michael Penny tied the score as he netted a goal with less than two-minutes remaining in the period with assists from junior

Greg Vatrano. The Falcons then reclaimed their two goal lead early in the second period as seniors Dain Prewitt and Jeff Gumaer each tallied a goal. Richardson brought the Yellow Jackets back within a goal when he netted a goal with less than a minute remaining in the period. Arcibal and senior

David Turco knotted the game when he tallied his second goal of the season at the 5:16 mark of the game's final period with assists from Woodard and sophomore
Steve McLeod. Prewitt then scored with less than four minutes remaining in the game to put Bentley on top 5-4. Gumaer capped off the Falcon win when he tallied his second goal of the night at 18:36. Sophomore
Dan Ramirez made 24 saves on the evening for AIC, while his counterpart, freshman Kyle Rank also stopped 24 shots in the victory for the Falcons.
Weekly Honors: Richardson was named to the Atlantic Hockey Association weekly honor roll for his performance last Tuesday night at Bentley. He tallied a goal and an assist against Bentley in the Yellow Jackets only game of the week. Richardson dished out an assist on AIC's first goal of the game, then found the back of the net late in the second period making it a one goal game.
ABOUT connecticut: The Huskies enter tonight's conference match-up with a record of 5-18-1 this season and are 4-11-1 in the conference are being swept by Mercyhurst this past weekend, losing the first game 6-0 and the second 7-2. In the weekend series opener, the Lakers scored once in the first and twice in the second period to take a 3-0 lead before the Huskies got on the board. Sophomore Andrew Olson tallied UConn's first goal at the 6:30 mark, with assists from freshman Marcello Ranallo and senior Sean Erickson. The Huskies cut the Mercyhurst lead to one goal when junior Chris Ochoa found the back of the net with assists from sophomores Matt Pedemonti and Brad McInnis. The Lakers then added another goal in the second and three more in the third to cap off their 7-2 victory. McInnis made 22 stops in the loss for UConn. In the series finale on Saturday night, the Lakers scored four of the six goals on the power play, including one in the first and three in the second period to propel themselves to a 6-0 shutout victory. Junior Beau Erickson stopped 37 shots on the evening for the Huskies.
connecticut LEADERS: Sophomore Jason Krispel leads the Huskies in points with 19 including one goal and 18 assists, while Ranallo is second with five goals and 12 assists for 17 points this season. Olson and Ochoa are tied with 14 points each with nine goals and five assists, and eight goals and six assists respectively. S. Erickson has 11 points this season with three goals and eight assists, while Pedemonti has tallied one goal and nine assists for 10 points.
AIC LEADERS: McLeod and Arcibal are tied for the team lead in points with 12, with four goals and eight assists, and three goals and nine assists respectively. Richardson has recorded six goals and five assists for 11 points as he is tied with Campanale who has tallied three goals and eight assists. Mele is third on the team in points with 10 this season with eight goals and two assists.
THE LAST TIME THEY MET: UConn swept AIC in a weekend home-and -home series on February 22-23, 2008. The Huskies won both games 4-2. Campanale and now assistant coach

SERIES WITH Connecticut: UConn leads the overall series with a record of 35-33-1, and went 3-1-0 against the Yellow Jackets last season.
