Men's Ice Hockey Sweeps Weekend Set After 6-5 Win at Bentley

Box Score

Watertown, Mass. - Senior Greg Genovese (Hingham, Mass.) broke a 5-5 third period tie to lift the American International College men's ice hockey team past Bentley 6-5 Saturday night. The Yellow Jackets improved to 8-16-4 on the season and 8-12-2 in Atlantic Hockey play and are now 3-1-1 in their last five games. The Falcons dropped to 6-16-6 overall and 6-10-6 in conference play.

AIC's eight wins surpasses last year's regular season total with six games remaining before the AHA tournament. This also marked the Yellow Jackets first weekend sweep of Bentley in the 10-year Division I era of the program.

AIC led 5-2 after the second period thanks in part to a pair of goals from senior Jereme Tendler (Viceroy, Sask.), who scored 26 seconds in to the game and later netted a power play goal at the 15:18 mark of the second period. Senior Mike Field (Marquette, Mich.) closed the scoring in the second period with 53 seconds on the clock.

Bentley came out firing in the third period and scored three straight and tied the game at 5-5 on freshman Dustin Cloutier's (Berkley, Mich.) power play goal at 11:50 of the third frame. Genovese broke the tie just 19 seconds later off the feed from junior Keith Rodger (Parshall, Colo.) for his seventh goal of the season.

AIC freshman Dan Ramirez (Rochester, N.Y.) made 26 saves, including 13 in the first period, to improve his record to 8-8-3 on the season, while junior Jason Kearney (Gibsonia, Pa.) made 24 stops for Bentley.
