Box Score

West Springfield, Mass. - Greg Genovese (Hingman, Mass.) and Bryan Jurynec (Carol Stream, Ill.) both scored but the American International College ice hockey squad dropped a 4-2 Atlantic Hockey contest to the visiting Connecticut Huskies Saturday evening in West Springfield. The loss drops AIC to 8-20-4 overall and 8-16-2 in the conference. UConn moves to 10-19-3 overall and 9-14-3 in the AHA.

AIC scored the first goal of the contest, on the power-play, less than 10 minutes into the opening stanza when Genovese redirected a pass through the five-hole of Huskies goalie Jon Glant. Genovese's goal was assisted by sophomore Frankie DeAngelis (Woodbridge, Ont.) and junior David Turco (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.). His goal was the lone score of the period.

The second frame saw UConn score three times. Michael Coppola kicked off the scoring for the Huskies sneaking a goal through AIC goalie Dan Ramirez's (Rochester, N.Y.) five-hole less than two minutes into the period. Chris Ochoa made the score 2-1 in favor of UConn flipping home a goal off of a rebound at the 7:57 marker while Andrew Olson gave the Huskies a two goal advantage scoring on a bouncing puck that snuck through Ramirez's pad late in second.

Bryan Jurynec notched the Jackets second power-play goal of the game with only 30 ticks remaining on the clock in the second, scoring with assists given to DeAngelis and Keith Rodger (Parshall, Co.). For AIC, it was their final goal of the game, as they were unable to mount a comeback. The Huskies tacked on an empty net goal in the waning minutes of the third period, clinching the 4-2 road win.

Ramirez stopped 27 shots in net for AIC while his counterpart Glant made 26 saves to propel UConn to the road victory.

AIC will head to Colorado next weekend for a weekend series with the Air Force Falcons.
