West Springfield, Mass. – The American International College men's ice hockey team lost to Mercyhurst 11-1 Saturday night. With the loss the Yellow Jackets record drops to 4-11-0 for the season and to 4-9-0 in Atlantic Hockey play, while the win improves the Lakers record to 7-8-1 overall and to 5-2-1 in the conference.
Senior Matt Pierce (Pakenham, Ont.) led Mercyhurst with a hat-trick and two assists for five points on the night, while sophomore Steve Cameron (Mission, B.C.) had two goals and four assists for six points. Classmate Scott Pitt (Ottawa, Ont.) tallied one goal and five assists, also for six points.
The Lakers received two goals from freshman Phil Ginand (Milford, Mass.), while sophomores Dan Bremner (Sarnia, Ont.) and Brandon Coccimiglio (Burlington, Ont.), and senior Kirk Medernach (Cudworth, Sask.) each scored once.
