LONGMEADOW, Mass. The American International College men's tennis team fell in straight sets to Southern New Hampshire University Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 action at the Meadows, 9-0.
With the loss AIC falls to 0-5 in both league and overall play, while with the win SNHU moves to 5-6.
Opening the day in doubles action for AIC was graduate James Worrall (Epsom, England) and freshman Ricardo Martinez (Valencia, Spain). The pair took four games from their Penmen counterpart, but fell, 8-4.
Martinez took games in first singles against Ricardo Marreiros, but lost by matching sets of 6-2. Worrall also had success in second singles against Miguel Marreiros, falling 6-3 and 6-2.
Also claiming points for the Jackets were Luis Gouveia (Cabo Frio, Brazil) at third singles and Johno May (Mahtomedi, Minn.) in No. 4 singles.
The Yellow Jackets return to the court Monday, Apr. 4 when they travel to nearby Springfield College for a 3 p.m. start with the Pride.
