Men's Tennis Blanked by Merrimack, 9-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. The American International College men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to Merrimack College this afternoon from Western New England University.

The loss drops AIC to 0-7 overall and in the NE-10 while the Warriors improve to 6-7 and remain unbeaten in conference play at 5-0.

Freshman Ricardo Martinez (Valencia, Spain) battled hard at no. 1 singles ultimately falling in a tie-break 10-6 after capturing the first set 6-1 and losing the second set 2-6.

Martinez also fell in the third tie-break in no. 1 doubles with partner James Worrall (Epsom, England) by a score of 9-8.

The Jackets return to the courts Saturday as they travel to Adelphi for a 12 p.m. affair.
