EASTON, Mass. Senior James Worrall (Epsom, England) won in a tie-break at No. 2 singles, 3-6, 6-4, 10-7, but it was not enough as American International College dropped an, 8-1, match to Stonehill College this afternoon in Northeast-10 men's tennis action.
Worrall improves to 2-2 on the year in singles competition while the Jackets slide to 0-4 in overall competition.
Worrall and his partner, freshman Ricardo Martinez (Valencia, Spain) nearly pulled off a victory to open the match at No. 1 doubles, but were ousted 8-6. The Skyhawks captured the other two doubles matches by an 8-0 score and were up 3-0 heading into singles action.
Sophomore Johno May (Mahtomedi, Minn.) picked up a couple points in his first set at No. 4 singles, but ultimately fell 6-2, 6-0. Worrall was very strong in his match, which was the final match to finish, collecting the lone AIC point while no other Yellow Jacket was able to secure multiple set points.
The Jackets return to the courts on Saturday when they host SNHU at 12 p.m.
