MANCHESTER, N.H. Senior James Worrall (Epsom, England) collected the lone point for American International in first-singles as the Yellow Jackets dropped their season-opener to Saint Anselm, 8-1.
Worrall collected the first point for AIC during first-singles winning the first set 7-6 and after dropping the second set 5-7 he came back to collect the 10-6 victory during a super tiebreak.
Freshman Ricardo Martinez (Valencia, Spain) battled strong in no. 2 singles, but ultimately fell 5-7 and 3-6 while classmate Luis Gouveia (Cabo Frio, Brazil) was also strong in no. 3 singles falling 4-6 and 1-6.
Worral and Gouveia played well together in doubles as well; however, they dropped the opening match 3-8. Martinez and sophomore Johno May (Mahtomedi, Minn.) also played well in doubles falling 2-8.
AIC returns to action on Wednesday with their home-opener against Le Moyne at 3 p.m.
